Want to attend the Boca Raton Bowl matchup between Toledo and Louisville on Dec. 23? Maybe you haven’t bought a ticket yet. Instead, you can simply buy a single can of Bush’s Beans and that can get you through the door.
The Boca Raton Bowl announced Monday, Dec. 15 that the first 2,000 fans to present a can of Bush’s Beans can bypass the ticket booth and enter Flagler Credit Union Stadium for the highly-anticipated postseason matchup. The fans must present the Bush’s Beans cans at Gate 3, and they will be seated in the “MVBean” section near the end zone. All 2,000 cans will be donated to local families in need. Famous actor Keegan-Michael Key will be on the scene as the captain directing the bean bash.
This is the first year the Boca Raton Bowl is sponsored by Bush’s Beans — a partnership that was announced in November. The 2024 Boca Raton Bowl proceeded without a primary sponsor, while previous sponsors include RoofClaim.com (2020-23), Cheribundi (2017-19), and Marmot (2015). Bush’s Beans is fully embracing the beans in Boca, debuting a “Slow-Cooked Stovetop Trophy” which may or may not feature beans dumped onto the winning head coach, as well as a ball-pit full of beans as part of the pregame festivities. Toledo and Louisville are also slate to take the field running through bean can tunnels prior to squaring off on the gridiron.
Toledo (8-4, 6-2 MAC) is bowl eligible for the 16th-straight year, eyeing a third postseason win in a 4-season stretch. The Rockets upended an ACC opponent in last year’s GameAbove Sports Bowl by knocking off Pittsburgh in a record 6-overtime affair, but in Boca Raton, they must proceed without longtime head coach Jason Candle who accepted the UConn job earlier in December. Quarterbacks coach Robert Weiner will serve as Toledo aims to complete its ninth 9-win season since 2011.
Louisville (8-4, 4-4 ACC) is bowling for the fifth-straight season and third time in three years under head coach Jeff Brohm. The Cardinals won a thrilling 2024 Sun Bowl over Washington decided in the final seconds and hope to build off that win and start a streak in Boca Raton. Louisville owns the bragging rights over Toledo in the series history with a 5-3 lead, but the programs have only met once since the dawn of the 1960s — a 31-6 Louisville victory in 1981.
The 2025 Bush’s Beans Boca Raton Bowl kicks off Dec. 23 from Florida Atlantic’s Flagler Credit Union Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. ET, and those without a ticket or a can of Bush’s Beans can catch the action on ESPN at 2 p.m. ET.
