There was a brief moment of concern when Jalen Hurts was slow to get up late against the Raiders in Week 15.
The Eagles offense was driving down the field and on 2nd-and-4, Jalen Hurts scrambled for a one-yard loss, and was slow to get up afterward. There was a (brief) moment of concern, before QB1 got back in the huddle and proceeded to throw the ball to A.J. Brown for a 27-yard touchdown. His day was over after the score, but not due to injury — the Eagles pulled most of their starters up 31-0.
In an interview with Pam Oliver after the game, Hurts admitted that he’d have to see what’s going on with his ankle, but surmised he’d be fine going forward. And, when asked about the injury in his press conference, Hurts mentioned moving past it quickly, “Just shook it off and came back and responded the next play.”
Hurts was more mobile against the Raiders than he has been for some weeks, with some speculation that the team was scheming ways to keep healthy late in the season. Head coach Nick Sirianni previously admitted that they do prioritize Hurts’ health, but also noted that it’s football, and injuries can happen on any play. Still, the Eagles needed a win on Sunday, and needed Hurts to utilize the entire playbook — which he did, and then some.
QB1 will be hugely important to the Eagles advancing in the postseason, and hopefully his ankle won’t be concerning moving forward.
