Arizona received 42 first-place votes in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 poll, nine more than last week. No. 2 Michigan got 15 first-place votes, while three went to No. 3 Duke and one to No. 4 Iowa State.
The Wildcats are ranked No. 1 for the second consecutive week after beating Alabama 96-75 in Birmingham, Ala. Saturday. The Crimson Tide dropped four spots to No. 16.
Arizona (9-0) is one of six Big 12 programs ranked, joined by No. 4 Iowa State, No. 8 Houston, No. 10 BYU, No. 17 Kansas and No. 19 Texas Tech.
In the USA Today Sports Coaches Poll, Arizona remains No. 2 behind Michigan. The Wolverines received 16 first-place votes to Arizona’s 14.
The Wildcats play two games this week: A home game vs. Abilene Christian Tuesday at 7 p.m. MST and a neutral court game vs. San Diego State in Phoenix Saturday at 8:30 p.m.
