High school boys basketball regular season action is full go around the country as the 2025-26 season is as holiday tournaments including many of the nation’s powerhouses are upcoming.

Leading the way in our second set of Top 25 National high school boys basketball rankings of the regular season is Link Academy (MO), which is off to an impressive 9-0 start. Which other teams around the country join the Lions in being considered as one of the top teams in the land, though?

High school football season is nearing its end and we have already begun the transition to the hardwood as we take a look at who are the top teams from around the nation in-season as Christmas is right around the corner.

The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory as of Dec. 15.

The Link Academy Lions (9-0) in the second set of Top 25 rankings to start off the 2025-26 season have made their way to the top after being on the outside of the Top 5. What can’t be questioned when looking at Link Academy is the level of talent dotted up and down the roster this season. The Lions feature one of the top front courts in the country, with Michigan State commit Ethan Taylor at center alongside power forward Tristan Reed (Mississippi State pledge). Not to be completely out done is the talent in the backcourt, led by junior four-star point guard Davion Thompson and Carlos Medlock Jr. (Michigan State commit). A 75-53 rout of Long Island Lutheran last week was impressive and next week after Christmas take on Bishop McNamara, the No. 1 team out of Maryland.

2. Dynamic Prep (TX) (7-0)

Dynamic Prep are led by former NBA star forward Jermaine O’Neal and are set to join Overtime Elite, one of the premier destinations for top prep basketball programs and top prospects. The team features several of the country’s top players in 2027 four-star small forward Marcus Spears Jr. and 2026 four-star shooting guard Dakari Spear, who this past summer with Drive Nation on the EYBL Circuit, averaged 13.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. Dynamic Prep has already opened up the season with impressive victories against No. 5 Columbus and No. 7 Faith Family Academy, respectively.

3. Fishers (IN) (5-0)

The high school boys basketball season started a few weeks ago in Indiana and the Fishers Tigers have looked every bit of being the best team in the Hoosier State so far through five games. Wins have come over Ben DavisMt Vernon,  Noblesville, Terre Haute North Vigo and Tech thus far as Fishers starts to head into the tougher portion of their regular season schedule in the early going. The Tigers will be tested in the coming days and weeks in contests versus state-ranked Crown Point and Hamilton Southeastern. Leading the way for Fishers is that of combo guards Carsen Eloms (Wisconsin commit) and Gage Sturgill.

4. Bishop O’Connell (Va.) (7-0)

Entering the Top 5 of this week’s national boys basketball rankings is the Bishop O’Connell Knights out of Virginia as they’ve raced off to seven straight victories to start the season. The start for the Knights has been very impressive as among the seven wins are victories over teams like Summer Creek (TX), IMG Academy (Fla.) and Gonzaga (D.C.), respectively. Leading the way out of the backcourt for the Knights is 2026 four-star point guard Darius Bivins, who is second on the team with points at 17.6, 5.4 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 2.9 steals per game. Corey Dixon through six games played leads the team in scoring at 20.3 points a contest.

5. Columbus (Fla.) (4-1)

Life after the Boozer brothers has begun for the Explorers and they’re continuing their trend of remaining one of the nation’s top programs. Columbus is coming off winning a fourth straight Class 7A state championship and has reeled off four straight victories after losing the opener to No. 2 Dynamic Prep (TX), 83-67. Leading the team this season will be a pair of senior four-star small forwards in Caleb Gaskins and Jaxon Richardson, son of former NBA star Jason Richardson. The Explorers most recent victory was a 93-68 thumping of Miami Palmetto. Columbus is taking part in the City of Palms Classic this week and will face The Principia School on Thursday.
