Bayern Munich playmaker Jamal Musiala returned to team training on Tuesday, 164 days after breaking his leg and six months before Germany's World Cup opener against Curaçao.

The club said in a statement that the 22-year-old was given a guard of honour by his Bayern team-mates. He joined in the warm-up and some passing drills before continuing his rehabilitation individually.

Bundesliga leaders Bayern have one game left this year at Heidenheim on Sunday before a short mid-season break.

Coach Vincent Kompany has said he does not want to put "any pressure" on Musiala or the medical department over a possible return date, but January looks likely.

If fit, he would almost certainly be included in Germany's World Cup squad next June.

He broke his leg and dislocated his ankle at the Club World Cup against Paris Saint-Germain this July.
