Recruiting Roundup: Sherrone Moore saga massively affecting Michigan Football recruiting

The Sherrone Moore saga is having a huge impact on recruiting Michigan Football. We tackle the latest in today’s Recruiting Roundup:

What a crazy week it has been. Wait, it hasn’t even been a week yet?!

The Sherrone Moore saga has made the past six days feel like a lifetime for Michigan Wolverines fans, and it’s going to have a lasting impact on the program. Right now, Michigan is doing its best to get the program in the best position possible after this disastrous turn of events, and keeping the 2026 recruiting class intact is a big task. Let’s take a look at how this whole saga is affecting Michigan recruits in today’s Recruiting Roundup.

2026 recruits react

Moore’s firing is going to create some shakeup in the recruiting world, and we have already seen a little bit of that. Here are some more reactions from recruits following Moore’s firing.

Four-star edge rusher McHale Blade: “At the end of the day, it’s still Michigan,” Blade told On3’s Ethan McDowell ($). “I chose this school for reasons far beyond football, so I’m not really too worried about things that’s going on. I chose Michigan because of that Block M —that logo — so I’m not really too worried.”

Three-star offensive lineman Tommy Fraumann: “Michigan always will be my home,” Fraumann told On3’s McDowell ($). “It has made such an impact on my life and how it’s played out.”

Three-star edge rusher Tariq Boney: “I have no comments right now,” he told The Michigan Insider’s Brice Marich ($). “I still have to talk with my family.”

Overall, these comments reflect a little bit of everything. Some of the unknown with what’s next, but also some optimism that Michigan will make the right hire. While some have reaffirmed their commitments, others like Boney appear hesitant moving forward.

2027 recruits react

Retaining talent in the 2026 class is the top priority, but staying solid with 2027 targets is crucial as well.

Four-star edge Rashad Streets is one of the top players in the class, and the Wolverines would love to have him. Streets remains interested in the program and will be keeping a close eye on the coaching search.

“I’m still interested in Michigan the campus and facilities are top notch,” he told On3’s McDowell ($). “Of course, I’m interested to see what happens with the staff and coaches. Right now, I’m just being patient. There has been a lot of changes lately with coaches.”

Another top target in this class is four-star cornerback Allen Evans. He doesn’t seem too upset about the Wolverines moving to a new coach.

“That takes no interest that I have in Michigan away!” Evans said in the same story with McDowell. “I know whoever ends up as coach will be great!!”

Overall, this news does not seem to impact the 2027 class as much as it does the 2026 class.

Michigan extends offer to junior DL’s brother

Michigan defensive lineman Enow Etta hasn’t played a lot so far in his career, but he is expected to have a bigger role in the coming years. There is a chance his brother, Ndi Etta, joins him in Ann Arbor, as he received an offer from Michigan last week.

Army, Miami Ohio, UTEP and Toledo are some of the other early offers for the younger Etta thus far, but getting an offer from the Wolverines was a big deal for him.

“It boosted it a lot, even with the stuff going on with Sherrone … obviously, I love Michigan, but now I just think it boosts even more,” Etta told On3’s McDowell ($).

Etta also feels good about the fact Michigan seems to be rallying together as the bowl game against Texas looms.

“All of their players are still there,” he said. “Nobody’s transferring. So, obviously, it means something to the players.”

Quick Hitters

  • 2027 four-star safety Gavin Williams released his top 10 schools last week, and Michigan made the cut.
  • So far, Michigan has lost two 2026 commits following the Sherrone Moore firing. Three-star offensive lineman Bear McWhorter, who committed to Auburn on Monday, and four-star tight end Matt Ludwig, who committed to Texas Tech late last week.
