Isaac Dulgarian maintains his innocence.
Unfortunately for the “MidWest Choppa,” Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) remains unconvinced. That’s why it voted to extend Dulgarian’s suspension on Tuesday, affording regulators more time to investigate “conduct which is deemed by the commission to reflect a discredit to unarmed combat.”
Dulgarian, 29, is accused of throwing his “sketchy” fight against Yadier del Valle at UFC Vegas 110 after pre-fight betting odds went bananas — to the point where sportsbooks canceled all wagers and refunded bettors. Even UFC CEO, Dana White, was prompted to confront Dulgarian over the alarming line movement.
And UFC has been extra cautious in the wake of the James Krause scandal.
“As you know, it has been alleged in correspondence with the state of Nevada Athletic Commission that there are grounds deemed by the commission supporting the temporary suspension of our client, Isaac Dulgarian,” attorney James Hobbs said in a written statement to NSAC (via MMA Junkie). “While Mr. Dulgarian denies any claims of conduct reflecting discredit in the field of unarmed combat, he consents to another extension of the temporary suspension.”
Dulgarian (7-2) was released from the promotion shortly after the incident.
NSAC will revisit the case when it reconvenes on Jan. 20 in Las Vegas. Until then, Dulgarian is barred from competing and will likely be questioned by the FBI at some point during the investigation. Del Valle, 29, has not competed since UFC Vegas 110 and remains unbooked at the time of this writing.
