A house belonging to New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu and former NFL lineman Hroniss Grasu was burglarized Monday night, the Los Angeles Police Department told NBC4.

Two thieves broke into the house wearing ski masks, police said. They made off with various handbags totaling $60,000 in value. Ionescu and Grasu were not home at the time of the burglary.

Police responded to the situation after a security alarm was tripped at the house after the burglars broke a sliding glass window at the house. Police are reviewing security footage of the incident, though no arrests have been made yet.

Ionescu, 28, grew up in California and currently has family in the Los Angeles area. She attended the University of Oregon. Though she did not overlap at the school with Grasu, the two eventually started dating. Grasu proposed to Ionescu in 2023 and the couple were married in 2024.

Grasu, who graduated from Oregon in 2014, was a third-round pick by the Chicago Bears in the 2015 NFL Draft. He spent seven seasons in the NFL, with his final year coming in 2023, when he was a member of the Las Vegas Raiders.

Athletes have become popular targets for burglaries in recent years. Both Tennessee Titans lineman Jeffery Simmons and Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders had their houses broken into during the 2025 NFL season. Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander also had his house broken into in October.

In February, seven individuals were charged for allegedly burglarizing the homes of Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Joe Burrow, among other athletes.
