ARLINGTON, TEXAS - Two teams are making its debut in a University Interscholastic League football championship game.

Wednesday night, either Hamilton or Joaquin will be claiming its first-ever state title. The Bulldogs of Hamilton take on the Rams of Joaquin for the UIL 2A Division I championship at AT&T Stadium.

Hamilton comes in at 13-2 overall. The Bulldogs come into Wednesday’s title game riding a 10-game winning streak.

In the postseason, they started with a 42-20 win against Tioga in the bi-district round. They have scored 29 points or less in the next four games, but have continued to find a way to win, including last week’s 28-12 semifinal win against Stinnett West Texas.

Also making its first trip to “Jerry World” is Joaquin. The Rams finished the regular season 6-4, but have turned things up a notch in the playoffs.

Joaquin has scored at least 35 points in all five playoff wins, including 74 in a regional semifinal win against Elysian Fields. In last week’s semifinal round, the Rams upended Refugio, 37-28.

FIRST QUARTER
