City and Bayern are the latest parties interested.
In news that will shock no one, more parties have entered the race for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.
The Times reports that Manchester City are aiming to overhaul their defence, with the English international eyed to be the centrepiece of a new-look City backline next season.
Fabrizio Romano, speaking on Men in Blazers, also reports that while Liverpool FC are still in the hunt for the defender, a January transfer is unlikely, as the player is likely looking to maximise his earnings at this point through a free transfer. Liverpool will likely have to offer the player better terms. He also reports that the defender’s camp has met with Bayern Munich twice.
“The truth is Liverpool are still there. The deal was almost done and it did not go through in the final minutes because of what happened with Palace.”
“Liverpool is still a solution for Marc Guehi, eventually on a free in the January transfer window. I can guarantee there have already been two meetings with Bayern. Bayern could look for a centre-back in the summer transfer window and English players are very comfortable there, as we can see with Harry Kane.”
“Let’s see what happens with Upamecano because Upamecano is a crucial piece of this puzzle. If he decides to extend his contract, maybe Guehi could be a different solution. If he leaves on a free then Guehi could be a serious target.”
Liverpool should rightfully feel they still have a lead, considering they already agreed terms previously this summer, but with the player entering free agency, more clubs are naturally joining the chase.
