In other Drury athletics news, the men's and women's basketball teams have started their longest stretch of home games this season.
INDIANAPOLIS – After a strong opening day of competition at the 46th Annual Midwest Classic, Drury wrestling's Nate Wishne competed on day two of the event in the 141-pound bracket on Sunday, Dec. 14.
On day one, Wishne opened the tournament with a 3-2 decision win over Findlay's Ashton Anderson. The Lee's Summit native then faced No. 14 Chad Ozias of Pitt-Johnstown, falling by a 14-4 technical fall.
Needing a win to advance to day two, Wishne battled to a 5-2 decision win over Ashland's Rylen Campbell. All five of Wishne's points came in the final two minutes and he secured the win in the last 15 seconds.
Drury's Jeremiah Halter posted two wins in his first two matches, each by decision. Cole Robertson also earned two wins by decision.
Bryson Humphries and Gaven Bremenkamp both opened the tournament with falls at 2:01 and 6:31, before dropping their next two matches. Mason Knight also earned a win at 149 pounds with a 7-5 decision.
Drury wrestling returns to action after the winter break at the Maryville Open on Saturday, Jan. 3.
Panthers, Lady Panthers ready for lengthy home stands
Following extended road swings to open their respective Great Lakes Valley Conference seasons, Drury men’s and women’s basketball returns to O’Reilly Family Event Center to kick off the teams' longest home stands of the season.
The Panthers, who opened a six-game home stand Wednesday evening, Dec. 17, against Central Christian, will continue their stay at O’Reilly with a Sunday, Dec. 21, afternoon contest against Arkansas-Fort Smith at 1 p.m.
The Drury men will host Rockhurst (Jan. 2), William Jewell (Jan. 4) and Missouri S&T (Jan. 8) before welcoming Lincoln to Springfield for DU’s Hall of Fame Day on Jan. 10.
Despite dropping a road contest at Union (Tennessee) on Monday, Dec. 15, the Lady Panthers will return home after the new year with at least three victories on their road swing. Drury won its first three GLVC games on the road and will conclude its five-game road trip Saturday, Dec. 20, with a 2 p.m. matchup at Arkansas-Fort Smith.
The Lady Panthers will enjoy the familiar surroundings of O’Reilly for the first time in over a month on Jan. 2, when they host Rockhurst in the first of four consecutive home conference games.

Austin leads strong showing by Drury divers at Kansas
LAWRENCE, KS — Carter Austin logged wins in the men's 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions to lead Drury men's and women's diving efforts Saturday, Dec. 13, at Robinson Natatorium.
Austin tallied 282.08 to take the top podium spot in the 3-meter, as well as a 232.95 score to claim gold in the 1-meter competition.
The DU women enjoyed a strong afternoon in Lawrence as well, spearheaded by Maddie Rogers' (215.10) second-place showing in the 1-meter, an event the Panthers claimed three of the top four spots in the final standings. Piera Rufino (227.70) claimed third in the 3-meter to pace the DU contingent, followed closely by Rogers (218.33) in fourth and Anamarie Lewis (203.93) in fifth.
Drury swimming and diving will return to competition Jan. 16, when the Panthers host cross-town rival Missouri State.
