PXG adds extended-length stability with Allan ZT Long putter

PXG expands its Zero Torque lineup with the Allan ZT Long, an extended-length putter built to promote a stable, repeatable stroke.

Gear: PXG Allan ZT Long putter

Price: $449

Specs: Extended-length design with hollow-body head, 303 stainless steel chassis, milled aluminum crown, polymer-filled face construction, S-shaped Zero Torque hosel, pyramid face pattern, adjustable sole weights and split long-length grip

Who it’s for: Golfers who like the idea of a long or counterbalanced putter and want maximum stability with minimal face rotation.

What you should know: PXG has taken the zero-torque concept from the original Allan and paired it with an extended-length build to create a putter designed to feel more stable throughout the stroke.

The Deep Dive: For many golfers, the most challenging thing about putting is managing the arc of their stroke and controlling how the face opens and closes along the way. That challenge, and bringing the face back to square at impact, only grows under pressure when extra hand action tends to creep in.

The original PXG Allan putter was built to address that issue by using an S-shaped hosel that points the shaft axis directly at the center of gravity. That configuration creates zero torque balance and helps the face stay square to the arc of the stroke rather than swinging open and shut. The just-released Allan ZT Long takes that same concept and stretches it into an extended-length platform designed to add even more stability.

The 45-inch PXG Allan ZT Long putter is designed to allow golfers to make a sweeping-style swing while greatly reducing face rotation throughout the stroke.

The standard Allan ZT Long measures 45 inches, but it is adjustable up to 47.5 inches, encouraging golfers to take a more-upright posture and a make a smoother, shoulder-driven motion.

The significantly heavier 480-gram head plays a big role here also, creating a counterbalanced feel that helps quiet the hands and slow everything down. For golfers who struggle with short putts or feel rushed on the greens, that added mass and length, combined with the sweeping motion, can make the stroke feel more deliberate and repeatable.

The PXG Allan ZT Long has the same Pyramid face design and internal polymer the standard-length model has to enhance sound and feel.

The internal construction of the Allan ZT Long mirrors the standard Allan in spirit but is tuned for the longer build. A hollow-body design helps push mass to the perimeter for high moment of inertia (MOI), while also allowing PXG to position the center of gravity (CG) just below the shaft axis. The polymer-filled face and pyramid milling pattern are designed to soften sound and feel without sacrificing speed consistency across the face.

Like the original, the shaft and hosel sit well behind the face, giving players a clean view of the ball at address and creating a natural forward press. PXG counters that forward press with additional loft, so the putter still delivers a playable launch that gets the ball rolling smoothly rather than driving it into the turf.

The Allan ZT Long comes standard with PXG’s split grip designed specifically for extended-length putters, along with a KBS Chrome shaft, with an optional PXG M16 Black stability shaft available. Adjustable sole weights allow fitters to dial in swing weight based on length and player preference, which is especially important with a putter this long and heavy.
