Nick McCloud was named the Week 16 NFLPA Community MVP, joining Caleb Williams as Bears recipients.
Chicago Bears cornerback Nick McCloud followed up teammate D’Marco Jackson’s NFC Defensive Player of the Week honor with a special award of his own.
The reserve corner has been selected as the Week 16 NFL Players Association (NFLPA) Community MVP, joining quarterback Caleb Williams as Bears players to earn that distinction this year. McCloud partnered with Daddy Victory Club (DVC) to host the Champions of Fatherhood Holiday Event, which uplifted fathers of color and their young children through gifting, a catered meal, and a panel discussion.
The event welcomed 30 dads and their kids to Chicago’s Play Street Museum, an interactive learning and play space that allows kids to play while McCloud and other dads engaged in community around a shared sense of fatherhood.
“Being named NFLPA Community MVP of the week is an incredible honor,” McCloud said. “As a first-time dad, I’ve been reflecting a lot on the example my own father set for me and the importance of showing up.
“For me, impact has always been about more than the football field — it’s about being present and serving every community I’m part of, from my home field to my hometown,” McCloud said. “Partnering with DVC is one way I’m able to do that by supporting families when it matters most.”
In addition to the fatherly fellowship, each participating family received holiday support, including a fully stocked diaper bag, a holiday shopping gift card, new winter coats for every child in the household, a fully catered meal and professional family portraits.
The NFL Players Association will also donate $10,000 to McCloud’s nonprofit of choice, and he will also be eligible for the Alan Page Community Award, the NFLPA’s highest player honor.
McCloud, a fifth-year player, came to the Bears on a one-year deal this season and has filled in for the Bears both as a slot and outside corner when necessary, starting four games earlier in the year. He’s even coming off his highest-graded performance of the season against the Cleveland Browns, according to Pro Football Focus, posting a mark of 75.0 and allowing a passer rating of just 59.0.
But whatever his contributions have been on the field, his off-the-field impact has been even greater.
