Wrexham unhappy over tackle as O'Brien faces lay-off

Phil Parkinson claims Ethan Galbraith was fortunate not to be sent off for the challenge which has left Lewis O'Brien facing a spell on the sidelines through injury.

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson claimed Swansea's Ethan Galbraith was fortunate not to be sent-off for the challenge which has left Lewis O'Brien facing a spell on the sidelines.

Parkinson said O'Brien suffered shoulder and knee injuries after being fouled by Galbraith during Wrexham's 2-1 defeat at Swansea City on Friday.

Midfielder O'Brien, who excelled during a loan spell at Swansea in the second half of last season, came on as a second-half substitute against his former club but only lasted seven minutes before leaving the field clutching his shoulder.

And Wrexham boss Parkinson pointed the finger at Swansea's Northern Ireland midfielder Galbraith, who was booked for his challenge.

"If you all look at the tackle - we all will - it's a bad tackle. It's high, it's dangerous, I think he's very lucky not to get red," Parkinson said.

"He's injured his knee and he's dislocated his shoulder.

"It's tough for him because he's been good for us, Lewis, and he was coming back to a club he was at last year."

When asked about Parkinson's criticism of the Galbraith tackle, Swansea head coach Vitor Matos said: "That's what Phil said, that's his opinion, I have nothing to comment on that.

"I will not comment on the referee's performance, that's not for me. That's for someone else, so yeah, nothing to say."

Parkinson says Wrexham will have to wait to discover how long O'Brien faces on the sidelines.

"But of course it doesn't look good," he added. "He's a tough player and he's not coming off unless it's something really serious."
