There’s not many Texas high school head football coaches that do it like Carthage‘s Scott Surratt when it comes to winning state championship games.
On Friday night, the Bulldogs’ lead man continued his undefeated streak when it comes to coaching in the big game. With Carthage’s 49-21 victory over West Orange-Stark at AT&T Stadium in Arlington for the UIL Class 4A, Division II state championship, Surratt improved to 11-0 all-time in Texas high school football title games.
For context, according to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, no other head coach has even ever reached 11 state championship games, let alone go unbeaten through the same amount of contests on the big stage.
With the victory for the Bulldogs, Surratt and Carthage cap what has been a magical season at 16-0 and finishing with a dominating win over West Orange-Stark. Also with the victory for Surratt, it was his 250th career coaching win.
