Crystal Palace may have an opportunity at striking a deal with Manchester City for Norwegian talent Oscar Bobb in January, according to reports.

The 22-year-old finds himself at a crossroads as the winter window approaches, with interest intensifying from Premier League rivals while City continue to balance squad depth, player development, and long-term valuation strategy.

Bobb remains highly regarded internally, but his pathway to regular first-team football has been far from straightforward with progress over the last 18 months repeatedly interrupted by fitness issues.

A leg bone fracture sustained in the opening week of the 2024/25 Premier League season ruled him out for the majority of the campaign, while more recently, the winger was forced off early in the Carabao Cup quarter-final victory over Brentford with a hamstring concern.

Those setbacks have coincided with fierce competition in Pep Guardiola’s attacking ranks, while the club consistently recruit elite-level forwards and manage the returns of established stars, as minutes have been difficult to guarantee for emerging talents.

While Oscar Bobb’s technical quality and versatility are admired, the club have shown a willingness in recent windows to consider offers for players who are not viewed as immediate starters.

And according to the information of MailSport’s Simon Jones, the Manchester City winger is high on Crystal Palace’s transfer wish list for January, alongside Tottenham talent Brennan Johnson.

It is claimed that Oscar Bobb has a number of clubs showing interest in his availability for next month, with Manchester City open to offers for the exciting and versatile Norway international forward.

From City’s perspective, being “open to offers” does not necessarily indicate a desire to sell. The club’s recent approach with similar players has been to protect asset value, either through strong loan structures or permanent deals containing sell-on clauses and buy-back options.

Whether Crystal Palace can meet Manchester City’s expectations or pivot towards a loan proposal remains to be seen. For now, Oscar Bobb’s fitness status may also play a decisive role in how quickly talks develop.

As the brand new January transfer window nears, this is shaping up to be another delicate balancing act between opportunity, valuation, and long-term planning at the Etihad Stadium.
