Jaland Lowe shows the world what the heart of a Wildcat looks like.
Saturday was filled with hype surrounding the debut of Jayden Quaintance for the Kentucky Wildcats, who appeared to finally have their entire roster available in Atlanta while taking on Rick Pitino and St. John’s.
That didn’t last long, however, as Jaland Lowe left the game quickly after re-injuring his shoulder. Many thought that Lowe had dislocated his shoulder again, but according to Jeff Goodman, it was thankfully not a dislocation. It was merely his shoulder shifting.
With Lowe out for virtually the entire first half, Kentucky reverted to the stuck-in-the-mud offense we have seen far too often from this team when Lowe is off the court. It was almost unwatchable as the Cats hit the locker room at halftime down seven points.
That’s when the magic happened.
Coming out of the half, Lowe’s entrance music played as he came onto the court to do some warm-ups. Apparently, after getting the all-clear to re-take the court, Lowe entered around the 17-minute mark of the second half, and the Cats never looked back.
“I told these guys at halftime, I’m gonna go out there and live with it,” Lowe said after the game.
The junior floor general finished with 13 points on 5/7 shooting, including 1/2 from deep. He also added three rebounds and three assists while earning a game-high +/- of 20.
It is no secret that this team looks vastly different when Lowe is running the offense. They actually look dangerous. Add that in with the impressive defense, and there is a much more positive outlook on the season going forward. Now let’s keep him healthy.
Great win. Time to build on it.
