It was the sixth time since 2018 that No. 8 Duncanville and North Shore met in a Texas high school football state championship game on Saturday afternoon at AT&T Stadium for the Class 6A, Division I title.

For nearly two and a half quarters, neither team’s offense could figure one another out, but it would be the Mustangs coming away with the narrow win. North Shore held on for the 10-7 victory and notching their fourth title since ’18.

North Shore broke the scoreless game at the 4:12 mark of the third quarter when quarterback Kaleb Maryland connected with wide receiver Jaylen Bocard on a 44-yard touchdown pass to put the Mustangs ahead 7-0.

The Mustangs would add to their lead in the fourth quarter as a field goal put them ahead 10-0, with a double-digit lead seeming like it might be enough in a defensive duel.

Duncanville would fight back throughout the fourth quarter as wide receiver Trenton Yancey would throw a 33-yard touchdown to Zach Turner, cutting the lead down to a three-point deficit.

The Panthers in the final minutes drove into Mustangs’ territory, but with less than 45 seconds left would turn it over on downs.
