The Premier League and the FA have provided money for the new facility in Clay Cross.
A new artificial football pitch has opened to the public as part of a bid to "grow local talent" in Clay Cross.
North East Derbyshire District Council said the 3G pitch at the recently opened Clay Cross Active centre marked "another milestone" in the development of the site.
The centre also features a 25m swimming pool and learner pool, fitness and spin studios, soft play and interactive play areas for children, a community cafe, and a TAG Active Arena
The council said the new pitch was funded via a £786,000 grant from the Premier League plus money from the FA and government's Football Foundation with additional support provided by the council and local partners.
According to the authority, demand for bookings at the pitch is "already high".
Kathy Rouse, cabinet member for leisure, said, "Thanks to the generosity of the Football Foundation and our local partners this exciting project has now been completed and is now ready for our communities to use, helping us support and grow local talent at this amazing centre."
Robert Sullivan, Chief Executive of the Football Foundation added that good quality playing facilities had a "transformative impact" on physical and mental health.
"We're delighted that the local community will now be able to enjoy all these benefits thanks to the new facilities at Clay Cross," he added.
