Steelers set up to make Browns Myles Garrett breaking sack record tough

With two weeks to go in the season, Browns Myles Garrett continue to inch close to the single season sack record.

After recording 0.5 sacks in the matchup against the Buffalo BillsMyles Garrett is now one sack away from taking over the record for most sacks in a single season. With two games left in the season against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals, Garrett has an opportunity to not only beat the record but maybe surpass it by a few sacks.

Sitting atop the AFC North with a 9–6 record, the Steelers pose a difficult matchup for the Browns at home. Although Garrett only needs one sack to break the record, Pittsburgh will be a challenging matchup to accomplish this task in. Aaron Rodgers has averaged the quickest time to throw in the league this season, which makes it extremely hard to get pressure on him. Even if Garrett can beat his blockers, it will still be tough to get to Rodgers in time to record the sack.

Because the teams face each other twice every season, the Steelers are very familiar with the Browns, and Mike Tomlin will be well prepared with a solid game plan. Garrett will certainly be double-teamed and chipped a great deal, and the Pittsburgh game plan will be very focused on stopping him, as the Bills did this week.

Cleveland’s star defender did not get a sack, QB hit, or tackle for loss in the first matchup between the two teams, all the way back in Week 6.

Given all of this information, it feels more likely that Garrett will be able to record a sack to break the record against the Bengals in the final week of the season instead of at home in Week 17.
