For the first time since the Week 3 poll, the UConn men’s basketball team moved up in the AP poll. The 12-1 Huskies jumped up one spot to No. 4 after No. 3 Duke lost on Saturday, dropping the Blue Devils down to No. 6. UConn is coming off of a 2-0 week to start Big East play with a pair of convincing wins at home against Butler on Tuesday and on the road at DePaul on Sunday.
For the first time all season, the Huskies are the only Big East team ranked in the Top 25 after St. John’s fell out after losing to Kentucky. Seton Hall is the second team out of the poll and the Red Storm are the fourth team out, representing the lone Big East schools to receive votes besides UConn.
Arizona, UConn’s only loss of the season, remains at No. 1 after defeating San Diego State in a neutral site game over the weekend. The Huskies have four wins this season against teams currently ranked in the poll in No. 10 BYU, No. 17 Kansas, No. 20 Illinois & No. 22 Florida.
The Huskies are idle this upcoming week, as most teams around the country are with Christmas on Thursday. The team returns to action next week for a pair of conference games, going on the road to Xavier on New Year’s Eve and hosting Marquette in Storrs for their first game of 2026 on Jan. 4.
Looking at NET rating, UConn remains at No. 8 despite the 2-0 record last week. The Huskies are one of five teams in the country with at least four Quad One victories this season. Looking ahead to next week, Xavier, No. 122 in NET, will be a Quad Two opportunity, and Marquette (No. 183 in NET) is likely going to be a Quad Four game. In terms of KenPom, UConn ranks No. 7 overall being No. 23 in offensive efficiency and No. 4 in defensive efficiency.
