Who were the top performers from the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl?
The second Mountain West bowl game of the season saw two future PAC 12 teams facing off in Boise, Idaho. The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl featured the Washington State Cougars taking on the Utah State Aggies on the famous blue turf. It was a bit of a messy game, but the Cougars were able to come away with the 34-21 victory. Let’s take a look at the top performers from the game.
Offensive Player of the Game
Maxwell Woods (Washington State)
The Freshman running back had only 108 yards entering this game. Woods would more than double that total, running for 117 yards on only nine carries, including a long of 48 yards. Woods also added three receptions for 35 yards. If this game is any indication, the future is bright for Woods.
Defensive Player of the Game
Ike Larsen (Utah State)
Larsen has had a great career for Utah State. The senior safety has remained loyal to the Aggies, despite a number of coaching changes. While he wishes the outcome would have been different, Larsen finished his career with a strong performance. He intercepted a Zevi Eckhaus pass and had seven tackles. It was a solid final game for Larsen, who should have a solid shot of playing on Sundays next fall.
Special Teams Player of the Game
Landon Rehkow (Utah State)
The sophomore punter was busy yesterday. Rehkow punted seven times. Fortunately for the Aggies, Rehkow had a solid performance, averaging 44.6 yards per attempt against Washington State.
