Basketball roundup: Ionia girls, Lansing Catholic boys among winners

IONIA 65, CENTRAL MONTCALM 59

STANTON — Avery Hoppough led the Bulldogs with a team-high 16 points in their nonleague win over Central Montcalm (3-2). Logan Thomas picked up 14 points, four steals and four rebounds, Josie Lee scored 10 points and Kennedi McDiarmid chipped in eight points and five rebounds for Ionia (3-2).

CORUNNA 57, DURAND 48

CORUNNA — Lizzie Dettman scored a team-best 19 points for the Cavaliers in a nonleague home victory over Durand (3-3). Kaylee Owens tallied 15 points and Rachel Steinacker tacked on eight points for Corunna (2-3).

BOYS

ALMA 67, MIDLAND DOW 57

Koby Shunk had a double-double with 36 points and 11 rebounds and added five steals as the Panthers extended their win streak to three with a victory over Midland Dow. Jackson Hemker and Penn Seeley each contributed eight points for Alma (4-2).

LANSING CATHOLIC 66, SPRINGPORT 57

SPRINGPORT — Zach Snitgen led the Cougars with a team-high 19 points and hauled in seven rebounds in their nonleague win over Springport (4-3). Seth Hahnenberg notched 17 points, eight rebounds and three steals, Garry Tackkett tallied nine points and seven rebounds and Leland VanAlstine added nine points for Lansing Catholic (4-2).

STOCKBRIDGE 64, HOMER 58

STOCKBRIDGE — Jonathan Crowe notched a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds to help the Panthers outlast Homer (2-5) for the nonleague home win. Noah Sandecki tacked on eight points for Stockbridge (7-0).

GRANDVILLE 47, PEWAMO-WESTPHALIA 45

GRAND RAPIDS — Grady Eklund scored a team-high 18 points for the Pirates as they fell to Grandville (6-0) at the Cornerstone University Holiday Showcase. Trent Piggott tallied 12 points and Logan Farmer chipped in eight points for Pewamo-Westphalia (4-1).

PINCKNEY 58, LESLIE 47

LESLIE — Jackson Fossitt finished with a team-best 24 points for the Blackhawks in a nonleague home defeat to Pinckney (4-3). Roman DeRose tallied nine points, Joel Cranmore scored seven points and Braydin Johnson tacked on six points for Leslie (5-1).
