The Morning Commute for Tuesday, December 23
Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about Mizzou things
With Mizzou Basketball’s loss to Illinois at Braggin’ Rights on Monday night, the Tigers dropped to 10-3 overall on the season with no quality wins in non-conference heading into SEC play. Not exactly a recipe for success in hopes of making the NCAA Tournament.
(They at least won the Statue of Liberty?)
Though, let’s shift our focus to Mizzou Football as Missouri plays in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl vs Virginia on Saturday night. For the final time this season, it’s game week.
Plenty of Gator Bowl week coverage to come here on Rock M Nation. In bigger picture news, however, you may have heard that the Chiefs will be relocating to the state of kansas (in 2031).
With no NFL team in Missouri in the near future — Mizzou Football can take advantage, and Eli Drinkwitz took note of it.
An NIL opportunity to get Jamal Roberts to stay at Mizzou? Let’s do it.

When Mizzou’s offensive coordinator position first opened up, I listed Chip Lindsey as one of my top choices. As did Matthew Gustafson (or at least, his listed potential options with connections to Drink.) So when news broke a few days ago that Lindsey was trending toward being Mizzou’s new OC, I was pretty excited.
It’s safe to say that there are some differing opinions on Chip Lindsey. Let’s just see if this hire will work out.
This was a good two-year stretch for ol’ Chippy. He got on to the staff of an offensive mega-mind, learned the intricacies of the system without all the pressure of calling plays in Year 1, then helped the thing take off in Year 2 and got himself a shiny new P4 job.
This Hater’s takeaway: success
Nate is NOT a fan from Chip Lindsey, but he has had some success.
I’m expecting Illinois to stop a Mizzou offense that’s still missing a few key puzzle pieces, at least enough for its own offense to pull away down the stretch.
Mizzou desperately needs Stone and Pierce back in the lineup for conference play.
As we wrap up the year, I’ll be counting down my top 20 photos of the past semester. This first installment will cover the top 10 action photos and next week’s will cover the top 10 feature-style photos. Without further ado: enjoy this recap!
This athletics semester featured some great action photos from Hannah, highlighted by Kaia Tanskanen of Mizzou Gymnastics coming in at No. 1!
They struggled with Porter and Pierce’s absence down-low, ultimately losing their rivalry matchup 91-48 on Monday in St. Louis.
Woof.
