Transfer Bomb-Schüll: Bayern Munich Frauen player set for Manchester United WFC swap

Lea Schüller has been a key player for FC Bayern’s women’s team during her five-and-a-half-year stay

Interesting news coming out of Bayern Munich: a transfer that is nearing completion. Not for the men’s team, but the women’s team: Lea Schüller’s move to Manchester United WFC is all but certain. As reported by Bild (via X account @iMiaSanMia), the 28-year-old will join the English side next month. Other sources say Swedish center-back Hanna Lundkvist is also linked with United after her contract with San Diego Wave ended.

Schüller, along with Lena Oberdorf, was out of action for the Frauen’s 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen, but she was visibly emotional as she was waving goodbye to the fans after the final whistle.

Schüller is known for being the Frauen’s prolific goal scorer; if they scored there’s a high chance her name is on the scoresheet. Whenever she is not the league’s top scorer by the end of the season, she is almost always in the running and sometimes finished closely behind the outright winner. Since joining in 2020, she has played over 100 matches for Bayern and netted over 70 goals; she has also netted 54 goals in 82 appearances for the national team since her debut in 2017.
