Brandon Garrison exits Bellarmine game with knee injury but should be fine

Brandon Garrison exits early against Bellarmine

The Kentucky Wildcats got some action against Bellarmine on Tuesday afternoon before heading home for Christmas and getting ready for conference play.

The Wildcats are nearing full strength as the end of the calendar year approaches, but big man Brandon Garrison left Tuesday afternoon’s game due to a knee injury.

Garrison left the court with the rest of the team at halftime and appeared to be fine, but he apparently stayed in the back to be checked out for an injury. He appeared back on the bench midway through the second half with his knee heavily wrapped in ice.

Kentucky eventually announced that Garrison was questionable to return due to a knee injury, but he ended up not returning to the game.

Thankfully, it turns out it was just knee soreness that Garrison was already dealing with, and the team was just being precautionary, head coach Mark Pope said after the game. So for now, it doesn’t look like anything that will sideline the junior big man.

Garrison recorded eight minutes of play before exiting the game with an injury.

With the Wildcats’ next game coming in roughly 10 days in Tuscaloosa at Alabama, the Oklahoma City native should have time to rest and get healthy as SEC play ramps up.

Garrison has been playing a solid role off the bench as the Cats are adding a key piece to their frontcourt with the return of Jayden Quaintance.

The Wildcats move to 9-4 and will be back in action in 2026 at Alabama.
