Manchester United Are Keeping Tabs On This Crystal Palace Midfielder: Good Signing For Amorim?

In a recent report, The Sun stated that Manchester United are keeping tabs on Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton. It is believed that the Red Devils are monitoring the progress of the English midfield ace ahead of a potential move for him next year.

Wharton’s Impressive Form In English Football

Wharton has enjoyed a solid campaign at the London club after he put in a series of impressive displays for them at the centre of the park. The English talent has secured three assists in 23 matches for Crystal Palace this season across all competitions.

The 21-year-old has anchored the midfield with conviction as he has made 30 tackles, ten blocks, 15 interceptions and 21 clearances in the Premier League. He has even been tidy when distributing possession after completing 75.8% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the London club will expire in the summer of 2029. Thus, it won’t be easy for Man United to sign Wharton on the cheap next year.

Is Wharton A Good Signing For Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim?

Wharton is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and is a good passer of the ball from midfield.

The English talent can even chip in by picking up the odd assist for his team. He is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also function as a box-to-box midfielder or as an attacking midfielder if asked to do so.

We can expect Wharton to add more quality and depth to Man United boss Ruben Amorim’s midfield department. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the Mancunian club in the coming years.

At 21, the future looks quite bright for Wharton as long as he continues to improve with each season. Hence, Amorim would be wise to get him on board as he would be a great signing for the Red Devils in the long run. He is already quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the Mancunian club.
