Bayern Munich duo named Austria’s footballers of 2025

You can’t get redder and whiter than playing for Austria and FC Bayern

The Austrian Press Agency (APA) just named Bayern Munich duo Konrad Laimer and Sarah Zadrazil as Austria’s footballers of the year for both men’s and women’s categories (via Bayern’s official website). The last time such an award went to the Rekordmeister was when David Alaba won it back in 2021. Laimer helped Bayern win the 2024/25 Bundesliga and the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup while Zadrazil powered Bayern Frauen to a DFB-Pokal and Frauen Bundesliga double, along with the DFB-Supercup which they won against Wolfsburg.

“We’re very glad Konrad Laimer has been named Austria’s Footballer of the Year”, Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund began. “As his compatriot, I’m particularly happy about the award, especially as I’ve known and accompanied him for a long time. Both at FC Bayern and in the national team, Konny has been an absolute role model in terms of reliability, passion, commitment and a team spirit that inspires everyone.”

“He was recently given the nickname ‘Zidane of the Alps’ – he definitely has a turbo in his boots if you ask me”, Freund continued. “FC Bayern is proud to have Austria’s Footballer of the Year in its ranks. David Alaba has won the award ten times in his career – let’s see if Konny can start a new streak.”
