CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Less than 24 hours after Ben Humrichous was on the floor in St. Louis helping the Illini beat Mizzou for a third-straight season, he was in a suit getting married to former Illini women’s basketball standout Adalia McKenzie.

Humrichous said he told the team that he really needed a win with such a quick turnaround for his wedding, missing his own rehearsal dinner due to the game against the Tigers.

“I was like guys, I really need you to lock in here… do it for a brother, and do it for this team moving forward.”

He said he first met Adalia in the training room last season while they were both playing for the Illini.

The strong connection they’ve formed benefits him on and off the court.

“She’s been such a blessing to me,” Humrichous said.” We could talk about the basketball stuff, about the moments after tough games when you go home or even the celebration, she’s one of my biggest fans.” “Off the court, she encourages me, and she points me to Jesus when I’m having a hard time, I mean, she’s incredible.”
