Nicolas Jackson won’t play for Chelsea again whilst Enzo Maresca is manager of the club according to top insider Matt Law.

Jackson joined Bayern Munich on a season long loan on deadline day, with an obligation to buy based on making a certain number of appearances.

The Senegal international reportedly needs to make 40 starts across all competitions, and given he’s now at the African Cup of Nations, it’s not possible for Jackson to trigger the obligation.

Matt Law on Nicolas Jackson Enzo Maresca relationship

Jackson is said to be happy in Munich, but the chances of him joining Bayern on a permanent basis seem very low at this stage.

It’s been reported several clubs are keeping a close eye on Jackson, and Chelsea will likely have to find an alternative solution next summer.

The Senegal international reportedly isn’t keen on returning to Stamford Bridge, and Law has provided an interesting update on his relationship with Maresca.

“No, he won’t play for Maresca,” he told The London is Blue Podcast.

“That was made clear when Chelsea had that injury to Delap and they made that dash to try and stop the Bayern move happening.

“It was made clear to them that Nico Jackson won’t play for Enzo Maresca. So while Enzo Maresca is at the club, they simply can’t bring him back and can’t do anything with him.

“There’s no way Nico Jackson has a career at Chelsea while Maresca is Head Coach as things stand.

“Whether that could change. I doubt it, but you can’t ever say never.”

Emmanuel Emegha to join Chelsea next summer

Even if the 24-year-old wanted to play for Chelsea again it’s hard to see how given the Blues have moved on and agreed to sign Emmanuel Emegha from Strasbourg.

The 22-year-old has penned a seven year deal at Stamford Bridge, and will join at the end of the season to give Maresca another option in attack.

Emegha scored 14 goals in Ligue 1 last season, and Chelsea are said to believe the Dutch international has greater potential than Jackson.
