FC Bayern’s manager never had a doubt…seriously!
While some fans were fretting Bayern Munich’s “thin” roster, head coach Vincent Kompany was sure that it would not be an issue.
“I started here a year and a half ago. Like every coach at Bayern, I faced the same challenge: finding the right starting eleven and winning. It’s about giving the players confidence and stability. I never had any problems with performances, even in games we lost, the performances were there. We played in the Club World Cup and had very little time off. We decided to keep the squad small and competitive. Now the squad is getting bigger because of the players returning. It made sense to trust all players,” Kompany stated (via @iMiaSanMia).
Kompany’s assurance is paying off. Players like Alphonso Davies and Hiroki Itō recently made their respective returns to the squad and Jamal Musiala has even returned to team training (albeit on a limited, non-contact basis).
Come January, Bayern Munich will have a very strong and balanced roster — something that certainly appeals to Kompany.
