Another day and another prominent Texas high school football head coach is off to the collegiate level.
A few days after news dropped that North Crowley’s Ray Gates took a job at North Texas, Southlake Carroll (TX) head coach Riley Dodge will be leaving the Dragons to take an assistant coaching position at SMU, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel on Wednesday afternoon.
Dodge just got finished up leading Southlake Carroll to a 14-1 record and a berth in the UIL Class 6A, Division II state semifinals, falling to DeSoto in a 57-44 decision.
Dodge clinched career victory No. 100 during the regular season after Southlake Carroll’s 66-7 victory over Eaton. For his high school coaching career, Dodge improved to 107-10 all time as a head coach, which also includes five undefeated regular seasons along the way.
Dodge has done a ton of winning during his time as Dragons’ lead man, as he led the program to seven district championships, boasts a 31-8 all-time playoff mark along with six state semifinal and two state championship appearances.
