Bayern Munich News: More links on Leon Goretzka, Atlético Madrid; Would Bayern want AC Milan’s Christopher Nkunku?; FC Barcelona could exit Marc Guéhi sweepstakes; and MORE!

FC Bayern might have several moves in motion.

Another report links Goretzka to Atléti (Marca’s Matteo Moretto via @iMiaSanMia)

Earlier in the week, we saw a reporting linking Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka to Atlético Madrid. Now, another has emerged:

Atlético Madrid have enquired about Leon Goretzka and are interested in the midfielder’s situation ahead of a possible move.

Goretzka’s time at Bayern Munich is likely over come next July. Many fans have already moved on from him and the club could have already made its mind up as well. It just seems inevitable.

However, Goretzka does appear to have some decent interest on the open market. Maybe he is cooked or maybe just Mia as of late, but it does appear that he will have the opportunity to prove himself elsewhere.

Nkunku on thin ice with Milan? (Nicolò Schira)

Last summer, Christopher Nkunku was closely linked to Bayern Munich, but he likely did not possess the kind of versatility needed for the Bavarians to make an investment. Strong centrally, but average on the outside, Nkunku could not give Bayern Munich more than what Serge Gnabry could offer.

AC Milan might have learned that lesson the hard way as it is now rumored to have Nkunku available to the highest bidder:

Keep on eyes on Christopher #Nkunku’s future: #ACMilan are not satisfied with the french forward’s performances and are evaluating a possible sale if arrives a good bid. #Milan spent €37M + 5M as bonuses to sign him from #Chelsea last August. Nkunku earns €5M/year.

This will get the wheels spinning for some Bayern Munich fans. No, not for a transfer, but potentially for a loan. Some fans believe that Bayern Munich could use one more attacker for the stretch run of the season.

Should Bayern Munich explore something like that?

Eh, probably not. Minutes will be tough to come by as it is. Jamal Musiala will be working his way bad to playing shape, while Lennart Karl needs playing time to continue his development. In addition, Gnabry has been a very productive and solid member of the attack. If Nkunku has any one wild card up his sleeve with Bayern Munich, it is that he knows Max Eberl is a big fan of his.

With striker, second striker, and attacking midfield as his best positions, though, Nkunku would not really help provide depth at wing. At this point, it seems like Bayern Munich would pass — even on a cheap loan.

Another report confirms Upamecano status (Footmercato via ESPN)

Virtually every report in Germany has given the same account of where things stand between Bayern Munich and Dayot Upamecano. In France, the reporting is the same as well:

Bayern Munich and Dayot Upamecano have “virtually agreed” all aspects of a contract extension, with just the release clause proving to be a sticking point. Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are prepared to offer him what he wants, should the Bayern extension not be finalized.

Given some of the details already leaked on what this deal could look like, Bayern Munich fans will be very interested to see how much the club ends up giving in on this signing (if it eventually happens).

Barca could exit Guéhi sweepstakes (Goal)

In news that could benefit Bayern Munich, FC Barcelona could take a pass on Crystal Palace center-back Marc Guéhi:

Marc Guehi’s future appears to be drifting further away from Barcelona after reports in Spain suggested the reigning champions have cooled their interest in the Crystal Palace captain due to his wage demands. The England international, long admired across Europe, has become one of the most sought-after defenders on the market, but the financial gap between Guehi’s expectations and Barcelona’s limits is now considered too wide to bridge.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona had been monitoring Guehi closely and were in contact with his representatives, aware that he could sign a pre-contract agreement as early as next week. However, once the latest salary expectations became clear, discussions stalled and have not resumed in recent weeks. The Catalan club reportedly concluded that the difference was simply too great to overcome. The situation mirrors that of Real Madrid, who were also linked with the defender earlier in the season but are said to have been similarly deterred by the cost of any deal.

While Barcelona hesitate, others are moving more decisively. Bayern Munich’s interest has been publicly acknowledged, with sporting director Max Eberl confirming the club is actively surveying the market. Speaking to DAZN, Eberl stressed Bayern’s priority is extending Dayot Upamecano’s contract, but admitted alternatives must be considered if talks fail.

Guéhi will undoubtedly get a massive salary as part of his next contract. Depending on what happens with Dayot Upamecano in the coming days and Kim Min-jae next summer, the Bavarians could be willing to buck up for the Englishman.

Süle to Milan? (ESPN)

Former Bayern Munich star and current Borussia Dortmund center-back Niklas Süle could be drawing intertest from AC Milan:

Borussia Dortmund defender Niklas Sule is on the radar of AC Milan. He is set to become a free agent in the summer.

Süle will always be one of the great “what ifs” in recent Bayern Munich history.

Olise, Díaz dominating the competition (Who Scored)
