Austria's Marco Schwarz claimed his maiden super-g victory at a World Cup race on Saturday with a win in Livigno, Italy.

The 2021 slalom champion clocked 1 minute 10.33 seconds to beat Switzerland's Alexis Monney by 0.20s. Franjo von Allmen was the second Swiss on the podium in third.

Schwarz's previous best super-g result had been a second place in 2023 - his sole podium in the event until now.

Last Sunday in Alta Badia, he claimed his breakthrough giant slalom victory following two years of struggles with injuries and form.

"It's been a while," he said. "I think today I did a good job, I think I made a good run."

World Cup leader and title holder Marco Odermatt was fourth.

In the women's event in Semmering, Austria, Julian Scheib won on home soil to take her third giant slalom triumph of the season and third career victory.

Scheib clocked a combined time of 1:56.46 minutes in two runs, beating Swiss Camille Rast by 0.14s. Sweden's Sara Hector, who topped the first run, had to settle for third.

"Crazy, I never thought it would be the win," Scheib admitted. "It was so tough, it was so bumpy and I was so relieved when I came into the finish."

World Cup leader Mikaela Shiffrin was sixth as she continues to come to terms with the discipline in which she suffered a serious puncture injury last November.

The 105-time World Cup winner will hope for better fortune in Sunday's slalom - her speciality. Shiffrin has won all four slalom races this season, and three of her last four slaloms in Semmering.
