LSU predicted to land transfer QB for Lane Kiffin who's also a star baseball pitcher originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Lane Kiffin has taken over at LSU and is going to make the Tigers' his program.
To do that, he needs to find his first starting quarterback.
He might be wise to look to a familiar face.
The Athletic's Manny Navarro has laid out projected transfer moves for all the top QBs available, including Austin Simmons.
Simmons was supposed to be the Ole Miss starter this season, but injury allowed Trinidad Chambliss to take the job and run with it.
That sets Simmons up to move on, and he could reunite with Kiffin.
Also intriguing with Simmons: He's a really good baseball pitcher, too.
"Lane Kiffin invested two years getting Simmons ready to be his starting quarterback at Ole Miss, but the Florida native lost his job to Trinidad Chambliss after going down with an early-season injury," Navarro writes. "Simmons would also help bring some of the other Rebels with him to Baton Rouge."

That last sentence may be the most intriguing. If Kiffin can get Simmons, the floodgates might open.
The Ole Miss roster was good enough to get to the College Football Playoff. If a bunch of that talent heads to Baton Rouge, Kiffin could get off to a great start at his new home.
Clearly, Kiffin will look elsewhere for high-profile transfers, too. But looking to his old stomping grounds, and potentially getting Simmons, would be a solid place to start.
