Just last week, we covered rumours that Arsenal are planning to install safe standing zones in several areas at the Emirates Stadium over the coming seasons.
Specifically, the rumours suggested the club are planning to introduce the system in the Clock End lower tier in the summer of 2026, and in the North Bank lower tier in the summer of 2027.
But there was also talk of introducting limited safe-standing in the Clock End upper tier for cup games, and the club have now officially confirmed plans to implement the system much sooner than expected.

In Arsenal’s post on the club website about the upcoming League Cup semi-final against Chelsea, the Gunners announced that they’ll “be implementing safe-standing rails to meet the competition’s required 10% away allocation”.
The intention is to house 2,000 away supporters in the usual designated away end in the lower tier, then another 4,000 in the upper tier.
Though the exact details haven’t been confirmed, that certainly suggests 4,000 rail seats will be installed in the Clock End upper tier over the next month or so, with the Chelsea second leg to take place on Tuesday, February 3rd.

Whether these safe-standing rails will be temporary for the Chelsea fixture or permanent additions to the Clock End is unclear. But it will be the first time Arsenal have ever utilised safe-standing infrastructure at the Emirates Stadium either way.
