With the slate of Christmas, Saturday, and Sunday afternoon games over, there has been some clarity around the NFC standings. The Sunday night matchup between the Chicago Bears and the San Francisco 49ers is looming, and the Los Angeles Rams play tomorrow night, but here’s where things are now.

By virtue of the Detroit Lions’ flailing about for four quarters and losing to the Max Brosmer and the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday, the Green Bay Packers have clinched a playoff berth.

But with the Packers getting smacked around by Derrick Henry and the Baltimore Ravens, the Bears have clinched the NFC North.

The Seattle Seahawks beat the Panthers, which strengthened their hold on the #1 seed, but it’s not clinched yet. The winner of the Bears and 49ers game will still be in the mix for #1, as could the Rams, depending on the outcome of tonight’s game.

The Philadelphia Eagles’ win keeps them alive for the second seed, although the Bears have the tiebreaker.

Current NFC Playoff Standings

1) Seattle Seahawks (13-3) – Beat the Panthers today, plays in San Fran next week.

2) Chicago Bears (11-4) – SNF at the 49ers.

3) Philadelphia Eagles (11-5) – Philly hosts the Commanders next week.

4) Carolina Panthers (8-8) – Plays at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-9) next week, and if they win, they’ll take the NFC South and the fourth seed. If the Bucs win, there’s still a scenario where the Panthers win the division. Per Next Gen Stats, “The Panthers (8-8) can still win the NFC South even if they lose next week to the Buccaneers (7-9) IF the Falcons (6-9) win their final two games (vs LAR, vs NO).” Regardless of who wins the NFC South, that team is locked into the four seed.

5) San Francisco 49ers (11-4) – SNF vs the Bears.

6) Los Angeles Rams (11-4) – The Rams are on the road to play the Atlanta Falcons tomorrow on Monday Night Football.

7) Green Bay Packers (9-7-1) – The Packers are locked into the seven seed, and they are expected to rest players for their Week 18 game in Minnesota.
