Kentucky Basketball is in the middle of a 10-day break over the holidays, gathering much-needed rest and preparing for the start of Southeastern Conference play.
Heading into their break, Kentucky put together a four-game winning streak with victories over Indiana and St. John’s.
For a team that had once fallen out of the Associated Press Top-25 rankings, they could be back in the hunt to be reconsidered in the coming weeks.
Currently, EvanMiya views Kentucky as the No. 26 team while DRatings has the Wildcats at No. 23.
Haslametrics is the highest on Kentucky, ranking them at No. 17, with KenPom not far behind at No. 19.
Kentucky opens SEC play with a 9-4 non-conference record. They’ve not looked anywhere near like the best team in the SEC, but there are a couple of months of regular season left to be played.
The Wildcats will begin their next chapter of the season when they face the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday in Tuscaloosa, where ESPN’s Basketball Power Index is giving them just a 38.5 percent chance to win.
Tip-off for Saturday’s contest is scheduled for Noon ET with coverage on ESPN and the UK Radio Sports Network.
As for the Women’s team, they are on a roll of six consecutive wins and sit at No. 11 in the national rankings.
They, too, open SEC play this week — starting with a matchup at No. 5 LSU on New Year’s Day.
Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 8 PM ET with coverage on SEC Network Plus.
