Germany striker lea Schüller is leaving Bayern Munich for Manchester United, both clubs said on Monday.

United said that Schüller will start on January 1 on a contract until 2029. The transfer fee was not known. Her Bayern contract was until the end of the season.

Schüller, 28, joined Bayern in 2020 and has scored 103 goals in 180 appearances for them, winning four Bundesliga titles at a Geerman Cup with them.

But Schüller has not been a regular starter lately for club and for country, with her national team tally 54 goals from 82 caps.

Manchester United are fourth in the English Women's Super League.

Schüller said in a Bayern statement that is was "particularly difficult to take this step and leave my home, my friends and my family."

But she also said in a United statement: "I still have so much that I want to achieve in my career, and I know that Manchester United is the perfect club to join.

“I feel that the team’s style of football will really suit my game, I hope my qualities and experience can help us to achieve our aims both in England and in the Champions League,” Schüller said.
