Patriots re-sign tight end Marshall Lang to practice squad, release running back

Marshall Lang had an October stint in Foxborough.

An October addition has circled back to Gillette Stadium in December.

The New England Patriots announced the re-signing of tight end Marshall Lang to the practice squad on Tuesday, releasing running back Jashaun Corbin in a subsequent move.

Lang, 23, visited Foxborough for a workout in September after the NFL’s 53-man roster deadline passed. The following month, the 6-foot-4, 252-pound rookie tight end logged a brief stint on the practice squad. He originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Seattle Seahawks and returned to the NFC West in November for a spot on the practice squad.

A Northwestern product, Lang’s collegiate career spanned 48 receptions for 491 yards and four touchdowns. Dating back to 2020, he made 21 starts for the Wildcats across 52 games.

Corbin, 25, joined the Patriots’ practice squad in October and was restored from injured reserve earlier in December. Undrafted out of Texas A&M and Florida State in 2022, the 5-foot-11, 215-pound running back has also made stops with the New York Giants, Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons in his NFL career. Recording three catches and one carry through six games, he has seen 15 snaps on offense and 118 snaps on special teams.

A 2025 All-UFL selection, Corbin led the league with 514 rushing yards with the San Antonio Brahmas. His spring showing also featured 138 receiving yards, 252 return yards and four touchdowns.

The Patriots stand with an opening on the practice squad after the recent promotion of defensive tackle Jeremiah Pharms Jr. to the active roster. Defensive lineman Leonard Taylor III and defensive back Kobee Minor reverted on Monday after serving as standard elevations.

Head coach Mike Vrabel’s 13-3 AFC East champions close out the regular season at home against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. ET.
