Shared team does not equal shared opinion.
The Best FIFA Football Awards 2025 concluded in expected fashion with France’s Ousmane Dembélé grabbing the award for the best men’s player while Spain’s Aitana Bonmatí was crowned the best women’s player. The results mirrored the 2025 Ballon d’Or results despite the three month gap between the awards.
The PSG-dominated awards may have been a bit of a snooze-fest for most Bayern Munich fans. However, what fans of ‘Die Rekordmeister’ may find more interesting is the voting sheets of Bayern Munich’s three national team captains, as well as former Bayern managers, Julian Nagelsmann and Thomas Tuchel.
Harry Kane
Joshua Kimmich
Alphonso Davies
Julian Nagelsmann
Thomas Tuchel
The ballots revealed a fascinating divergence of opinion, though some notable overlaps emerged. Germany captain Joshua Kimmich and Julian Nagelsmann were in total lockstep, both placing PSG’s Vitinha at number one. Meanwhile, current England manager Thomas Tuchel found common ground with Alphonso Davies; both felt Harry Kane was the rightful heir to the Best Men’s trophy.
There was even greater consensus regarding the best goalkeeper and coach. Tuchel, Davies, and Kane all backed Gianluigi Donnarumma for the honor of best goalkeeper, while Luis Enrique earned the votes of Tuchel, Kimmich, and Kane as the year’s top manager.
The voting sheets of players and managers are always interesting. They reveal differing opinions, perhaps a bit of bias and a lot of mind-boggling inclusions that are often more entertaining than the awards themselves.
