Derrick White is the Celtics ‘Name to Know’ Player of the Game in Tuesday’s win over Jazz

Derrick White started the night slow, but he was much better in the second half as the Celtics beat the Jazz on Tuesday.

The Celtics got back in the win column, downing the Jazz 129-119 on Tuesday in Utah. It was a tough open for the C’s as the starters didn’t have much energy early. But it was all Boston in the second half to sprint away with the victory.

Derrick White took over in the second half, making him Tuesday’s “Name to Know” Player of the Game. The Name to Know Player of the Game is sponsored by John’s Sewer and Drain Cleaning, the Name to Know when your drains don’t flow.

It was a slow start for White, including missing his first seven 3-pointers on the night. But he finished the game with 27 points, seven rebounds and six assists, including a career-high seven blocks. White scored 22 points in the second half, helping the Celtics to the victory.

It was a forgettable shooting night to start for White, but his impact goes beyond just how many points he scored. The defense was on full display as he was seemingly flying everywhere and swatting shots. White also finished 8-for-16 from the field, including 2-for-10 on his 3-pointers. It helped that he was 9-for-9 from the free throw line.

The Celtics dropped a disappointing loss to the Trail Blazers last time out, so Tuesday’s victory was a much-needed bounce-back. The Jazz had beaten the Pistons and Spurs in their last two games, so they were playing solid basketball coming into Tuesday’s game.

The Celtics are now 2-1 on their five-game road trip, mostly against West opponents. They face the Kings on Thursday then the Clippers on Saturday to wrap up their longest road trip of the season.
