Kazuto Ioka scores knockout in bantamweight debut

Kazuto Ioka took his first steps towards conquering a fifth weight class this morning in Tokyo

Four-division champion Kazuto Ioka snapped a two-fight losing streak and secured his first win since 2023 with a fourth-round knockout of Maikel Ordosgoitti in his bantamweight debut.

Ioka (32-4-1, 17 KO), who dropped back-to-back bouts against Fernando Martinez to end his super flyweight title reign, used his legendary body attack to break Ordosgoitti (15-2, 14 KO) down and ultimately put him away with a gut-churning liver shot. The 36-year-old subsequently called out WBC champion Takuma Inoue, floating a showdown on the undercard of Naoya Inoue vs Junto Nakatani this coming May.

While the Martinez fights suggest that Ioka might struggle against the pressure of WBA champion Seiya Tsutsumi or the raw power of WBO titlist Christian Medina, who blew away the tough-as-nails Yoshiki Takei in September, I don’t think anyone would object to seeing Ioka trade hands with this Inoue.
