As the Winter Olympics draw closer, so too does the official return of true international best on best hockey. For months, fans and analysts alike have debated which players will make the cut and which will stay behind. But now, the wait is finally over.
On Wednesday, Team Canada unveiled their highly-anticipated roster for the 2026 Olympics.
There are 25 players— three goaltenders, eight defensemen, 14 forwards— headed to Milan to don the maple leaf, and three play for the Vegas Golden Knights: Mitch Marner, Mark Stone, and Shea Theodore.
Because NHL players haven’t participated in the Olympics since 2014 in Sochi, all three will make their debuts. They all played for the 4 Nations Face-Off team that won gold back in February.
At the 4 Nations Face-Off Tournament, Mitch Marner recorded the primary assist on Connor McDavid’s golden goal and finished with a goal and three points in four games. Mark Stone scored a goal and played in all four games.
Shea Theodore played just one period before exiting the game with a wrist injury. The injury knocked him out of the tournament, and missed eleven games before returning to the Golden Knights lineup.
Adin Hill, who was also part of the Canadian 4 Nations Face-Off team, was not one of the three goaltenders named to the Olympic roster. He has been out since October 20th with a lower-body injury.
