MANHATTAN (KSNT) – Closing the year in style.
The K-State women’s basketball team (8-7, 1-1 Big 12) closed 2025 with a dominant win, beating Cincinnati at home 79-52.
After a 28-28 tie at halftime, the Wildcats erupted in the third quarter, outscoring the Bearcats 28-6 to go on for the win.
K-State head coach Jeff Mittie was impressed with his squad forcing 30 turnovers in the win, with the help of the full-court press.
“There are a lot of ways you can press, and in this particular game, we wanted more chaos,” Mittie said. “When we got chaos, we were pretty good. It jump-started our offense with some layups, our players moved the ball better, and good to see the ball go through the hoop.”
The Wildcats scored 30 points off turnovers and had 27 bench points.
Tess Heal led the charge off the bench with 17 points, followed by Jordan Speiser with 15.
Nastja Claessens and Taryn Sides added 14 points each in the dominant win.
K-State is back in action on Sunday to host West Virginia.
Tipoff set for 1:00.
