What channel is Bills-Jets game on? Start time, how to watch NFL Week 18

The Bills close the regular season at home against the Jets. Here's the broadcast and betting information for the game.

ORCHARD PARK - In a normal NFL week, the Sunday 4:25 p.m. television broadcast window is reserved for the best teams in the league playing in what it deems as the most meaningful games.

But Week 18 is never a normal week because the league does not set the kickoff times until Week 17 is complete, not only for competitive balance reasons, but also to make sure the best games get slotted into the standalone prime time slots.

That’s the only reason why the moribund New York Jets will be playing their first 4:25 game of the season when they take on the Buffalo Bills in the last game at Highmark Stadium.

Usually, the biggest audiences are watching the 4:25 game, but the NFL is not subjecting the majority of the viewing public to the Jets because in Week 18, the 4:25 games aren’t any different than the 1 p.m. games; both are essentially regional time slots and Sunday, there are actually more games being played late in the afternoon (seven) than there are early (six).

Only two games at 1 p.m. matter for the postseason - Colts vs. Texans and Jaguars vs. Titans because those results will determine whether the Texans or Jaguars win the AFC South.

James Cook has a chance to win the NFL rushing title, but he may not play much on Sunday against the Jets.

At 4:25, Bills vs. Jets is part of a series of games that will impact playoff seeding in both conferences, the others being Patriots vs. Dolphins and Chargers vs. Broncos in the AFC, and Bears vs. Lions, Rams vs. Cardinals, and Eagles vs. Commanders in the NFC, so those games are all kicking off at the same time.

The island games are Saturday - Panthers vs. Buccaneers to determine the NFC South champion, and Seahawks vs. 49ers to determine the NFC West. And on Sunday night, Ravens vs. Steelers is for the NFC North title.

When the Bills take the field, they will do so with an all-time record in Orchard Park of 265 wins and 172 losses counting the postseason which computes to a winning percentage of .606.

Much of that positive disparity occurred during two separate eras. In Pro Football Hall of Famer Jim Kelly’s 11 seasons as Bills quarterback, they went 74-24, while in Josh Allen’s eight years, they are 56-19. Add that up and it’s a hugely impressive mark of 130-43, a winning percentage of .751.

Of course, Bills fans would prefer to forget the periods of irrelevance surrounding those two snippets of time because in the 34 seasons without Kelly or Allen, the numbers are pretty pedestrian at 135-129 without a single postseason game played in the stadium.
