Florida State will be looking to rehaul its roster over the next few weeks, with the transfer portal opening for a two-week period starting Friday, January 2 and lasting through January 16. Florida State got some good news on the transfer portal end before it opens on Friday, with defensive back Ja’Bril Rawls opting to return to Tallahassee rather than seek a new school:
Defensive lineman KJ Sampson, however, announced his intentions to enter the portal:
Florida State will be making another change to its on-field staff in the new year, with special teams coordinator and linebackers coach John Papuchis set to depart for the Missouri Tigers:

Basketball
Florida State women’s basketball (5-9, 0-2 ACC) faces off against Syracuse (11-2, 1-1 ACC) tonight on the road:
The Seminoles will play for the third time in program history on New Year’s Day, posting a 1-1 record in previous contests. FSU is 8-6 all-time against Syracuse and have won three of the last four regular season meetings.
Florida State is one of nine programs nationally to have six players averaging 9.0 points per game or more, led by Sole Williams, who averages 14.8 points per game.
The game will air on the ACC Network Extra and the Seminole Sport Network with Jack Kavovit and Melissa Bruner will be available on 96.5 The Spear and on the Sirius XM app.
Last time out, the Seminoles defeated South Carolina State, 89-41, on Dec. 20 at home.
Three players scored in double figures, led by Jasmine Shavers who posted her third career double-double behind a season-best 29 points and career high 12 rebounds. Pania Davis added her second double-double of the season, scoring 14 points and contributed a career high of 16 rebounds. She also dished a career-high four assists.
Shavers tied the FSU program record for best free throw percentage in a game after a perfect 11-of-11 showing.
Avery Treadwell also added her career high in rebounds, securing 11.
