In a couple of days, FC Barcelona will play their first game of 2026, when they take on local rivals RCD Espanyol in La Liga.
Days later, the Blaugrana will fly to Saudi Arabia, as they get set to compete for the first trophy of the season in the Spanish Super Cup.
Barça take on Athletic Club in the first semi-final, with the second semi-final set to be played between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.
Gavi could travel to support teammates
Now, according to SPORT, Gavi could travel to the Spanish Super Cup to support his Barcelona teammates as they compete for the trophy.
The midfield ace has been out injured since late August after having undergone surgery on his right knee, with a return in mid-February being talked about for him.
A player who lives and breathes football, Gavi has not found it easy to accept that he has had to step away from the game for an extended period after spending almost a year out not long ago due to an ACL rupture.

Since he was injured, Gavi has turned the training ground into his second home. Day after day, including on public holidays, the midfielder has travelled to Sant Joan Despí to continue his recovery process.
At the club, the working idea is that he could return to training on the pitch with the group at the end of January and make his comeback in February.
Even so, within the club, there is a desire to handle the situation with maximum caution, given the seriousness of the injury. No one is considering accelerating timelines or taking unnecessary risks with his return to action.
However, it is not ruled out that he could travel with the Barcelona delegation to Saudi Arabia to accompany and encourage his teammates at the Spanish Super Cup.
Gavi is a very popular figure in the dressing room and his presence is seen as a positive influence. Despite his injury, he remains connected to the group and continues to live the day-to-day life of the squad like any other player.
At just 21 years of age, he is already considered one of the more experienced players in the squad and a leader. As such, his presence is likely next week when Barcelona fly to Jeddah for the Super Cup.
