Jets players traditionally vote for team awards the Friday before the team’s final regular season game.

The biggest award is the team MVP which is named after the great Curtis Martin. This year wide receiver and return man Isaiah Williams received the honor.

Going into the season finale at Buffalo on Sunday, Williams is second in the NFL in kickoff-return average at 30.2 and sixth in punt-return average at 14.1. In the Pro Bowl voting, he was named a second alternate at return specialist.

And to display his versatility, Williams moved solidly into the WR rotation beginning with Cincinnati. He put in 303 offensive snaps in the last nine games, during which he caught 21 passes for 169 yards and ran three times for 34 yards.

Williams also returned 2 punts for touchdowns and had a third touchdown return called back on a penalty. He turned into an excellent return man after being signed to replace Xavier Gipson, who was released after a critical Week 1 fumble against the Steelers.

Williams’ Jets career itself got off to a rocky start when he fumbled away a kickoff and fair caught a punt on the 3 yard line in a Week 4 loss to the Dolphins. He was released after the ugly performance but worked his way back onto the active roster and then thrived.

I mean no disrespect to Isaiah Williams who had a fine season, but I think it speaks volumes about the 2025 Jets that the team MVP is a return man who was not on the opening day roster and was cut by the team during the season.

The Jets also voted on other awards. Harrison Phillips was named the Dennis Byrd Most Inspirational Player. Joe Tippmann was named the Selfless Warrior/Kyle Clifton Good Guy. Olu Fashanu got the Ed Block Courage Award, and Azareye’h Thomas was named the Bill Hampton Rookie Who Acts Like a Pro.
