A center-back is more important.
Barcelona have been linked with a January move for Joao Cancelo in recent days as the full-back wants to leave Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal this winter.
The defender is said to be aware of interest from Catalunya, while Barcelona have made contract with his camp on a couple of occasions to discuss a potential transfer.
However, the latest update on the saga suggests that Barcelona may be cooling their interest in the Portugal international.
According to Diario Sport, Barcelona aren’t quite convinced about a deal for Cancelo this winter. The priority remains a center-back, while the defender’s salary also looks to be a problem.
Cancelo earns around €15 million per season, a figure that seems out of Barcelona’s reach, even if Al-Hilal were to help out.
Hansi Flick was asked about transfers in his press conference on Friday and admitted he wants to bring a player in but admitted it won’t be easy, saying : “It’s difficult to bring in a quality player in the winter transfer window. I’m confident we can do something, but it has to make sense.”
Inter now look favorites to sign Cancelo this winter, while Barca will continue to hunt for a low-cost, left-footed center-back.
